Detection of Allergens
The prevalence of food allergies and intolerances in the general population has been estimated to be around 1-3% in adults and 4-6% in children(Source: EFSA, European Food Safety Authority).
With the EU Directives 2003/89/EC, 2005/26/EC and 2006/142/EC food manufacturers are obliged to indicate ingredients that cause allergies and intolerances on their product packaging.
